Strengthen Sibling Bonds: Essential Tips for Parents

Being a parent, it is very important for you to take care of your children in the best possible way. One of the most important things while taking care of all your children is making sure that all of them bond well with each other. Many times, siblings get into various fights and differences, thereby facing a hard time with each other. However, it wouldn’t be a big issue if you take care of a few things and make them understand the same. Following listed are a few tips which help to encourage a stronger siblings bonding:
Let your children play together with each-other:
First of all, you must make a note of all the activities which your children like doing together. It could be a little difficult for you to get hold of the activities, especially in the circumstances like age gap or difference in interest. But, paying attention will certainly help you in solving this problem. Let your children spend time with each other while they are enjoying a common activity of interest. Games and sports usually serve as a good means of common choice where the siblings may bond well with each other.
Do not be an intruder:
When the siblings are playing together and having a good time with each other, you must not take it for granted. At the same time, you must not intrude on their happy time. Support and aid them in whatever they are doing. Intrusion might create various problems for you as well. Thus, you must not interrupt unless the situation becomes unavoidable.
The use of oxytocin:
Sibling bonding can reach a next level of strength if you include the activities like laughing with them, taking them outdoors for picnic and recreation, singing and dancing with them, watching all their favorite movies with them, etc. The said activities induce oxytocin in children which might help them increase the bond with each other.
Biasness is the real enemy:
If you want the bond between the siblings to grow, you must make sure not to entertain any kind of partiality or biasness. Do not being biased with your child over another, do not be partial with any of your children. Biasness and partiality always ends up creating the feeling of bitterness which is a false sign of a healthy sibling bond. Thus, you must not take sides and behave with equality with the siblings.
Let them stand united:
The real strength lies in unity and you must make sure that all your children remain united with each other. Thus, instead of pitting the children against each other, you must find out the ways which help them unite themselves towards a single aim or mission. Give them a common task to complete so that they may end up helping each other to accomplish it, thereby increasing their bond with each other.
Support them to nurture each other:
Another important tip that you must remember while helping your children in growing the sibling bond is to support them to nurture each other. Teach them the good values of helping each other in the good and bad and they will surely learn and execute them in their lives.
Ask them to eat together:
Whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner, all the siblings must be on the dining table at the same time and they must participate in eating and sharing their food with each other. Do not carry out any unhealthy discussions on the dining table which might suppress the bond that the children are sharing with each other.
Help them with their problems without making anyone wrong:
Conflict is considered to be a part of any relationship and there are chances that your children may differ with each other’s opinions which might cause conflict in between them. Thus, this is where you must resist taking any side or blaming any one for the whole consequence. Blaming a sibling increases sibling rivalry, which of course is bad for a healthy sibling bond. Find out a common solution to a problem without hurting anyone’s sentiments.
Start working on these tips and you will surely strengthen the bond in between the siblings.
