PENCIL – A Stress Free, Joyful Learning Space for Children

I have always believed that learning should feel light, joyful, and meaningful. As a child, I often struggled to understand concepts in subjects like Social Studies and Hindi. What frustrated me most was not the topic itself but the way it was explained. Sometimes, even simple ideas became unnecessarily complicated when someone tried to teach them.

Over the years, I developed my own approach. I break big topics into smaller, digestible chunks. I use techniques that work—visual, demonstrative, or simple explanations.

This habit became the seed for PENCIL, my long-term dream to create a learning space where kids can genuinely enjoy studying, stay curious, and grow confident

My Journey as a Student

School is a place where children juggle academics, activities, and competitions. Teachers do their best, but with large class sizes, it’s difficult to give every child focused attention. That’s where tuition often come in as extra support.

Early Morning Mathematics Tuition

When I was in Class 8, my father enrolled me in a Mathematics tuition center. Classes started at 5:30 AM and went on till 7:00 AM. The center was quite far from my home. My parents bought me a bicycle so I can attend.

I still remember the enthusiasm of students—answering questions energetically in the fresh morning air. I only attended for a week because of the distance. Yet, the lessons I learned there stayed with me forever. I realized that waking up early is incredibly powerful. Learning in silence is effective. Our minds are fresh, there are no distractions, and concepts settle deeply.

Learning Under Master Soundarya Rajan Sir

Later, in Class 10, I was fortunate to learn under Master Soundarya Rajan Sir. He was a retired advocate and nearly 80 years old at the time. He charged very little, welcomed only a handful of students, and treated us like his own children. More than academics, he taught us values, communication skills, and life lessons. His compassion, simplicity, and genuine care made him a role model for me. He truly wished for our success—not just in exams but in life.

These two experiences shaped my vision of what a teacher truly be.

My Journey as a Teacher

During my engineering college days, I started teaching students after classes. Initially, there were just 2 or 3 students. Gradually, more joined as word spread.

What began as an experiment soon became a passion. I wasn’t just explaining topics. I was learning how each child thinks. I observed how they grasp concepts and how they respond to different teaching techniques. I discovered the joy of personalized explanation, adapting my approach to each student.

What I enjoyed most was growing alongside them—celebrating their progress, correcting mistakes, and watching their confidence grow. Over time, I became convinced of one truth:

Every student is unique. And when we shape their learning consciously, they can excel—not just academically but also personally.

The Vision of PENCIL

With these experiences and motivations, I wanted to create something more structured and impactful. My goal was to build an educational space that combines personalized teaching with values and confidence-building. That’s how i thought of PENCIL, my experimented techniques of teaching.

At PENCIL, I don’t want children to just study—I want them to fall in love with learning.

The Road Ahead

I know this is just the beginning. My experiences as a student, my early experiments as a tutor, and my vision as an educator have all led me to this mission:

Sharpening Minds, Shaping Futures.”

I truly believe that learning explained with care, creativity, and personalisation makes a difference. Children don’t just perform better in exams. They grow into better individuals.

With PENCIL, “I deeply wish to make learning a joyful journey for every child.”
